Recreational Therapy

“Sometimes, you need to step outside, get some air, and experience the world around you.”

What is Waiver Recreational Therapy?

Dream it.

As an individual with special needs, it may often be challenging to participate in every-day activities within the community. Recreational therapy services are services consisting of a medically approved recreational program to restore, remediate, or rehabilitate an individual with special needs.

Recreational therapists focus on increasing an individual’s functioning and independence within their community. They assist in providing activities and experiences outside of the home.

Build it.

Recreation therapy can include:

  • Organizing and participating in sports activities

  • Arts, crafts, and creativity

  • Attending public events such as plays, festivals, and community events

  • Teaching social interactions, communication, the use of money, safety skills, etc within the community

  • Increase an individual’s experience to the outside world by visiting local libraries, stores, restaurants, parks, and more

Grow it.
