What is Waiver Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy is care that helps you ease pain and help you function, move, and live better. Physical therapy services are provided by licensed physical therapists within the state of Indiana.

Their treatment and training programs designed to preserve and improve abilities for independent functioning, such as gross and fine motor skills, range of motion, strength, muscle tone, and activities of daily living.

Physical therapists assist in:

  • Screening and assessments

  • Pain reduction

  • Improve movement or ability

  • Work on balance to prevent falls and injury

  • Prevent surgery

  • Manage chronic illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, or arthritis

  • Control bowels or bladder

  • Adapt to artificial limbs

  • Training and assistance with adaptive aids and devices

Physical therapy waiver service is only provided to individuals ages 21 and over. All medically necessary physical therapy services for children under the age of 21 are covered in the state plan benefit pursuant to the EPSDT benefit.
