What is Waiver Music Therapy?

Dream it.

Music therapy services are services provided for the systematic application of music in the treatment of the physiological and psychosocial aspects of an individual’s disability, and focus on the acquisition of nonmusical skills and behaviors.

The focus of music therapy is therapeutic in nature rather than on the acquisition of musical skills obtained as the result of music lessons, such as piano lessons, guitar lessons, and so forth.

Build it.

Music therapy assists in:

  • Enhancing emotional expression and adjustment

  • Stimulate creativity and imagination

  • Improve self-image and body awareness, fine and gross motor skills, and auditory processing

  • Increase communication skills, the ability to use energy purposefully, interact with others, attending behaviors, and independence and self-direction

  • Interaction in group music therapy up to four individuals

Grow it.
